Brooke Shields was devastated when she couldn't see the teleprompter during the  opening number of Sunday‘s Tony Awards.  She later apologized for the flub and for good measure apologized for taking off her clothes in "The Blue Lagoon."

The most exciting new feature of the redesigned Washington Redskin’s FedEx Field are “suspended sky boxes” that will hover high above the play action.  The bad news is they’re being designed by the same guy who designed the set for “Batman.”

ComicCon attendees are all aflutter over rumors that Superman and Lois Lane are headed in the direction of Splitsville.  Strongest evidence of trouble on the horizon is Lois's refusal to allow the Man of Steel change clothes in construction site Andy Gumps now that phone booths no longer exist.

The results of a new study indicate that infants as young as a year old can easily escape from their baby seats while the car they're riding in is in motion.  The stats may be skewed, though.  The quickest kid in the study was little Harriet Houdini.

Compiled from Bob's newsletter "Funnyside Up" published in 2000. This is a yuck and chuckle-filled stroll down memory lane to a time before the Bush administration had inflicted its damage -- a time before the search for WMDs and Osama bin Laden. See what we were laughing at back then, who was in the news and who had yet to enter rehab -- which NFL stars had yet to do time in the Gray Bar Hotel.
