PAPAL PLUNGE -- The first pope to resign in 600 years, with bells pealing and cheers ringing in his ears, Benedict XVI bid his faithful farewell and helicoptered to his villa at Castel Gandolfo. First thing he did after unpacking was head for the Olympic-size pool where he did a few quick laps -- not swimming -- walking.
GONE BUSTED -- Faced with $16 million in gambling debts incurred at Steve Wynn's casino in Vegas and a $10 million defamation judgement, the producer of "Girls Gone Wild" has filed for bankruptcy. Listed assets total less than $50,000 -- mainly video equipment and 5,000 slightly-used bras.
MY BUDDY -- The first American basketball star to visit North Korea's new leader Kim Jong Il, notorious hoopster Dennis "The Worm" Rodman calls him "a friend for life." The net legend posed for photos with the rotund dictator, shared a few laughs and later gave Mrs. Il some fashion tips.
LEAD GALLERY -- The popular Glock 19 semi-automatic comes equipped with a fifteen round magazine that California legislators, in their infinite wisdom, have limited by state law to ten. The theory being that if you can't bring down a cop with ten rounds, you don't deserve to own a Glock.
PICKY, PICKY, PICKY -- Oakland Mayor Jean Quan caused an outcry when she included Lock Picking classes as part of a city sponsored "Workshop Weekend." Critics say it might encourage young people to take up a life of crime. Not likely. The course includes complete instructions on picking locks on jail cell doors.
